Located in the nation’s first skyscraper, Loews Philadelphia Hotel is housed in the iconic PSFS building in the heart of Center City offering fabulous views of City Hall. B&F helped with its original conversion from an office building to a hotel nearly two decades ago, and we recently manage the renewal of its 581 guestrooms, including complete bathroom renovations, new lighting, carpet, artwork, and draperies.
Since the hotel is a popular downtown destination, scheduling was critical, and renovations needed to be accomplished over a six-month window so that rooms could be back on-line quickly. Our Project Managers organized construction into five phases with up to six floors at a time cycling through various stages of activity from demolition to completion.
We were in close communication with hotel operations to keep the work on schedule while minimizing the impact on guests, even moving furniture overnight to avoid tying up elevators. We coordinated schedules with the primary contractor and subcontractors for drapery and case goods to meet all established timelines. The renovations were delivered within budget and on schedule, and the historic building now greets its guests with a fresh new look.
