Having successfully served Germantown Friends School on previous projects, B&F was brought on to assist with analyzing potential sites and managing the fit-out process for a new Pre-K Center so their Facilities Department could handle other summer renovations.
To capitalize on Philadelphia’s downtown renaissance and a growing population of young families, the Germantown Friends School (GFS) decided to open a Pre-Kindergarten facility that would help feed students to their main campus.
We worked with their School oversight committee, real estate broker, and architect to test the feasibility of three Center City locations. After weighing renovation costs against the tenant improvement allowances for each site, GFS determined that available space at the Curtis Center near Independence Square would best meet their needs.
Once the lease was executed, it was off to the races to complete design, bid the project, and finish construction before the start of the school year. This was an exciting but challenging project, working within a historic structure built in 1910. The B&F team oversaw an aggressive renovation schedule and secured the permits needed to open the new school on time.
“Our experience at GFS with Becker & Frondorf was excellent. The team took the time to listen to us and understand our goals. You were flexible and thoughtful, and, most importantly, added value by organizing our priorities and helping us to efficiently execute projects.”
