The Gordon Group hired Becker & Frondorf to oversee the transformation of an abandoned commercial pier into a luxury retail-dining-entertainment destination at the center of the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
Large-scale Structure Gets New Life as a Luxury Retail Destination
An Initial Assignment
B&F was initially brought in to temporarily assist the Gordon Group’s in-house construction managers in overseeing change orders for the enormous project. However, our Project Manager proved to be such a valuable asset to the team that we were asked to continue to assist on-site for 2+ years until construction was complete.
Complex Construction over the Ocean
B&F reviewed payment applications, inspected work, and negotiated change orders with contractors. We also assisted in navigating building inspections and code issues with city and state agencies. Since the 900-foot-long property extends over the ocean, construction on this project was particularly challenging to navigate.
Largest Retail Entertainment Complex on the East Coast
The completed Pier at Caesars opened to great acclaim, with upscale shopping, beach-themed restaurants, and an indoor water show set to music. It has since been re-branded under new ownership as The Playground to better reflect the changing tastes of its clientele.
