Becker & Frondorf oversaw phased renovations that included 409 guestrooms and suites, corridors, technology upgrades, a new concierge lounge, and an expanded lobby with a central gathering area and restaurant. A later project also involved infilling the existing indoor pool to create a new fitness center for guests.
The Philadelphia Airport Marriott operates at over 90% occupancy and is one of the City’s busiest properties. While there is no good time to overhaul such a busy hotel, our Project Managers worked with the owner and hotel management to identify the best renovation windows and strategically phase construction activities for guestrooms and public spaces over several years to reduce the impact to operations.
Our approach included finding the right contractors and construction methods to allow work to occur seven days a week during the times that created the least disruption to hotel guests.
We ensured renovations stayed on track by carefully coordinating work done by the designer and procurement agent; verifying the accuracy of information needed for order placements; and carefully identifying shipping dates and methods to prevent delays. All phases of work were completed on budget and on schedule.
